Managing and protecting your company’s mission critical data and having a good Backup / Disaster Recovery Plan are essential components to keeping your business generating revenue.
“Back up and disaster recovery was never this easy” says Robert DelGarbino, Sr. Consultant. Many of our customers wished they had the BDR system in place when their server crashed and their business stopped dead. Recently a “Nameless” & Company’s server was hacked and left in inoperable. “We were called in to secure and rebuild the server. If they had our BDR system they could have saved well over six thousand dollars in repairs and countless dollars in lost productivity” said Robert. There was also the time another customers server crashed with a failed motherboard” (they wish to remain anonymous). Gail, the office manager was in charge of backups and unfortunately they were unusable because she never tested them. “That company sent thirty two people home for two days and spent months entering lost data.” They also could have avoided disaster by using the BDR system. Another advantage of having a BDR system in place is that it allows you to run servers well past their intended replacement scheduled time without the risk of an outage due to aged, failed equipment. The BDR can virtualize and replace a crashed server in minutes. “We have had customers run their servers literally to death.” says Robert. “When the server died iDEAL spun up the virtual server on the BDR system and they were back in business. We ordered a new server and copied their old server image to the new hardware and saved two weeks of configuration time too.” 1. Have a written back up plan 2. Test back ups periodically 3. Monitor the backup system, alert and repair when backups fail 4. Back up data and computer operating systems (what good is the data if your software will not retrieve and show it? 5. Send your backups offsite. What if the building burns down? Backup and disaster recovery costs less than you think. Some call it business insurance. They say they sleep better at night knowing their business systems are protected.
